jun 20, 1789 - Tennis Court Oath
Description:
The swearing of the Tennis Court Oath was a pivotal moment of the French Revolution. Members of the Third Estate made an oath "never to separate and to meet wherever circumstances require until the kingdom's Constitution is established and grounded on solid foundations.” They did this on the tennis court which had been built for the Palace of Versailles in 1686.
