Description:

King Louis XVI summoned an assembly of the Estates General. The participants comprised of representatives from all three Estates. Also, enlightenment thinkers such as Voltaire, Rousseau, and Diderot, engaged in intellectual debates through the creation of pamphlets, which all competed for public favour through influencing new opinions and ideas and challenging old ones.
