jan 15, 1870 - 6.2 and 6.3 comparison Minorites in the west

Description:

During this time in the West, there were three minorities which the government of the United States didn't treat them very well. They were Chinese, Native Americans, and Mexican Americans.
Chinese immigrated to the US and mostly worked in railroads and helped them out. But the congress passed the Chinese Exclusion Act which restricted Chinese immigration to the US. Chines usually tended to settle in the western coast and also made some cities like china town.
The other group was native Americans as throughout the history of the US, the government of the US had some hostile relationship with Native Americans. As the US expanded territories westward, they faced native Americans. The US fought a couple of wars against native Americans and killed many people including women and children. The other thing is that the US government was forcing the Native Americans to live like white Americans. They had to attend white schools and often were punished, they had to cut their long hairs and dress up as Americans. Some native Americans managed to teach their kids about their religion and beliefs secretly, however, the US didn't own things in an attempt to make native Americans act and live like white Americans.
The Mexican Americans who were previously living under the Mexican territory were also the other minorities that suffered after the Mexican cession. Mexican Americans living in the area of Mexican cession who previously owned these lands could no longer resist them because it was now the United States territory. Mexican Americans often went to courts and claime for their lands but they weren't successful because they would ultimately lose the claim. some of them had to go back to Mexico because they couldn't own the land.
