nov 25, 1989 - CDC gets involved

Description:

The Ebola officials of the CDC and the United States Army held a meeting to discuss the outbreak. It was decided that the CDC would handle any human complications while the Army would deal with the monkeys.

After the meeting between the Army and the CDC, the Army decided to cancel all operations at the Reston facility. They decided to implement a Biohazard shutdown as Chief of Disease Assessment Colonel Clarence J. Peters had previously recommended.

Jerry Jaax was nominated to lead the operation. Jaax had previous experience with Ebola infected monkeys. He quickly fitted the monkey caretakers from Reston with respirators.
