Characteristics and closing of the West
Description:
Prior to the closing of the west. The idea of manifest destiny spread among the American nation which Journalist John o' Sullivan coined it as manifest destiny.
Manifest destiny was the idea that God had given the power to the people of America and they are chosen to move west and expand their territory. They wanted to go from sea to the shining sea. When the US got some territories from Mexican cession, people started to move west and also the government would give them free lands to build it known as the Homestead Act. However as the US went westward the conflicts with native Americans also arose since they would face native Americans.
When the western coast of the US closed like they reached the shining sea. People started to move west a lot and also spread the idea of farming. However some other people wanted the west to be more industrialized as they sought to connect the east and the west by railroads. Railroads also made it easier for people to move their products all across.
