Precursor to the Digest.
- Collection of jurist law, limited to the five most important Roman legal scholars.
- If jurists were not in agreement as to which jurists' argument to apply, the side that supported the most jurists would win.
- However, an exception to this was that Papinianus' opinion would trump all other jurists' opinions.

The jurists:
1. Gaius.
2. Paulus.
3. Ulpianus.
4. Modestinus.
5. Papinianus (most influential).
