Beschreibung:

Tom Thomson is a Canadian artist that was largely self taught. He painted in Algonquin Park and had a lot of famous paintings that showed the wilderness and the nature of Canada. He was born on August 5th 1877 in Claremont, Ontario and grew up in Leith, Ontario. In 1906 he went to Ontario College of Art & Design and two years later in 1908. Through contact he found a group if people that worked at Grip Limited which is a commercial art firm. The people who worked there were soon to become the "Group of Seven". He joined Grip and helped out there a lot. Thomson's death was rather mysterious. In 1917 July 8th he had disappeared on a canoeing trip. He found dead in Canoe Lake 8 days later. He was examined and concluded that he died of accidental drowning. 3 years later his friends at Grip Limited created the "Group of Seven". The Group of Seven were Canadian landscape painters. They made the group in memory of Tom Thomson. Within the time the group was still together they made famous paintings. The group ended in 1933 and everyone went there separate ways. In 1974 it was stated that Shannon Fraser murdered him, but it still hasn't been confirmed.
