Nullification Crisis (19 Mai 1828 Jahr – 15 März 1833 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
A high protective tariff (or tax) was signed into law by U.S government. South Carolinian- specifically John C. Calhoun strongly disagreed with the high tariffs and felt that they targeted the South unfairly. South Carolina nullified the federal law, calling it unconstitutional until a "force bill" was threatened which would bring the national army into the state to make sure the law followed. A compromise took place. South Carolina would pay tax. The U.S government would not send troops if South Carolina Agreed to pay this lower tax.
