Jean-Baptist Colbert was the Minister of Finances during Louis XIV's reign. He served from 1665-1683. Colbert was an incredibly successful minister. He recovered millions of livres in taxes and misappropriated funds and helped to reform the navy. Colbert inherited the position from Nicolas Fouquet who was removed by Louis.
