More than 260 men after winter are taken to Davidport, Iowa and are exiled three years later. Fort Snelling sends the Dakota there to a new reservation on land that is not suitable for farming. The treaties are revoked and it is illegal for the Dakota to live in Minnesota. This law has never been annulled.
