Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play in the major league. There were a lot of racist people because they thought that black people shouldn’t play with the white people, they said he should go play in the Negro league. Until 1946 when Montreal signed Jackie when they played there first game they won 14-1. Since then he has been famous for his amazing playing and how he kept on playing no matter what anyone one said. When he retired he became a out spoken champion of civil rights which made it easier for the black people to join the major and minor leagues.
