The Harlem renaissance was the development of a black majority neighborhood in New York city. It was a direct result of the great migration. This was a time of great progression for black people in America. Black culture was finally being recognized and a new wave of music, art, and black romance was appearing out of manhattan. It was know as the "Mecca" of black culture. The peak of the renaissance was in the 1920s.
