22 St. 57 Min, 11 Feb 1857 Jahr - Dred Scott vs. Sanford
Beschreibung:
The Dred Scott Case was a question of slave rights. Dred Scott who was a slave in Missouri under the ownership of John Emerson, has moved with his owner to the state of Illinois and that became of question because Illinois outlawed the institution of slavery. So, when John Emerson wanted to move Dred Scott back to Missouri, Dred Scott refused and fought this case until it went to the Supreme Court. The case was so important because it deemed that slaves were not fully citizens and couldn’t sue in a United States court and this needed to change.
