The Energy Policy Act of 2005 provided subsidies for energy companies, while providing tax incentives for Renewable Recourse Companies. Despite being a predominately Republican effort, it received bipartisan support and opposition, notably from Senators Barack Obama (D-IL) and John McCain (R-AZ), who voted "yes" and "no", respectively.
