Julius Caesar was assassinated one year later after he proclaimed himself the dictator of Rome. Julius wanted to be king but the senate does not want a king of the Roman Empire, so he tried to become dictator for life, and the senate weren't happy of the news. Therefore he was assassinated on the orders of the senate.
