1 Jan 1932 Jahr - James Chadwick

Beschreibung:

In 1932, Chadwick ran an experiment in which he added alpha particles to a beryllium atom. Chadwick noticed that there was an unknown radiation being produced. He started to study this unknown radiation. While examining the radiation, he theorized that the radiation he discovered was a composed particle with a neutral charge. He believed that the neutral charge had an equivalent mass to the proton. Later on, the neutral charge Chadwick had discovered was named a “neutron.” This opened up to create a new model of the atom.
