Beschreibung:
On Saturday, my mother received a ticket in the mail for running a red light. This event is an example of the political factor of globalization at play. Red light cameras were first developed in the Netherlands, one of the top ten trading partners of Canada. The principal reason why they were created was due to the high number of accidents that took place due to people running red lights. This system gives red light runners a warning and generally is there to make people think twice before running a red light. The idea soon spread to the US, the UK, and Australia. Currently, more than seventy countries use this system, that being said a common trait of the countries that have applied the system is that they are Westernized and most countries trade with one another. An example of this is the US and the UK. This event is an example of how one country’s(the Netherlands) policies and values bleed into those of their trading partners.
