2 Jul 1964 Jahr - The Civil Rights Act of 1964

Beschreibung:

The Civil Rights Act is a piece of legislation passed by President Johnson that ended segregation in public places and banned employment discrimination based on sex, race, color, religion, or national origin. President Johnson played a huge role in having this act passed because he wanted his term to be the term where more was done for the minorities in America than any other president had done thus far. This bill was obviously signed by Johnson at the White House. A few major causes leading to this act being passed would be JFK's Assassination, the Birmingham Protests, and Brown v. Board of Education. A major cause of the act would be that it paved the way for the civil rights movement to move onto a voting rights act, which it did a year later.
