Ashton Kutcher was the first celebrity to use twitter and also reach 1 million followers. Kutcher and CNN were in a in a race to see who would reach 1 million followers. After Kutcher reached 1 million, Oprah Winfrey tweeted showing that "twitter is really for all ages"
