The Little Rock Nine were a group on nine black students in Little Rock, AK that would be the first to integrate into Central High School in AK. A mob ensued as they tried to enter the high school. President Eisenhower had to call in the National Guard to integrate the students. Orval Faubus allowed the situation to rise to this level as he did not give his support for the integration and only cooperated after a meeting with Ike. The effects of the integration and ensuing mob started to allow people the racism that existed within the south.
