Yellow fever is an acute infectious disease caused by a flavivirus. There is currently no cure to the disease however good nursing and care have shown to work. Its originated Arica and was spread through slave trade. Subsequently outbreaks occurred tropical America, the North American coastal cities, and Europe. During the end of the 19th century Carlos Juan Finlay, a Cuban epidemiologist recognized that the disease was transferred through mosquitoes later to be proved by Walter Reed. Reed corroborated with Finlay and proved that it was caused by a filterable agent found in the patients blood. In 1930, Max Theiler discovered the 17D strain that would serve to create a vaccine still used today.
Symptoms include; Nausea, fevers, headaches, and vomiting. The skin and also appear to be yellow.
