During a time of heated segregation throughout the country, a brave woman decided not to give up her seat to a white man on the bus in Montgomery, Alabama jump starting the civil rights movement in the United States. On December 1st, 1955 Rosa Parks got onto a segregated bus and refused to leave her seat and was arrested for breaking segregation laws. The same day peaceful boycott and protesting occurred that gained national attention and drew the attention to Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks to put the civil right movement at the forefront of the problems in the United States.
