Описание:

A man named Oliver Brown sued the Board of Education of Topeka after his daughter couldn't enter an all white school. He said that even though the law decreed that segregated facilities must be 'separate but equal', the black schools were worse than the white ones. After the ensuing lawsuit, the supreme court ruled that segregated schools were unequal and that segregated schools were unconstitutional.

This helped spur on the Civil Rights Movement by paving the way for further lawsuits and spreading awareness across the country.
