The Spanish conquest of the Incas was led by Francisco Pizarro. Just as Cortes was able to conquer Mexico with 450 soldiers, Pizarro was able to conquer Peru with just 600. Pizarro took advantage of a dispute within the Inca ruling house and benefited from the effects of European disease. Pizarro took advantage of his subjects however, exploiting their resources before killing them. In both the Spanish conquest of the Incas and Aztecs the land was used to mine for silver. This was done with both the slavery of indigenous people and African slaves. A social hierarchy formed placing the Spanish and Creoles(Those of Spanish descent) above the Mestizos(Spanish+Native American), Mulattos(Spanish and African) and Zambos(African+Native American).
