Harlem Renaissance (18 янв 1920 г. – 30 июл 1929 г.)
Описание:
The Harlem Renaissance began approximately in 1920. Segregation, racism, and Jim Crow laws in the South pushed many African-Americans to the north in what was known as the Great Migration. They gathered in cities such as Harlem, Chicago, and Detroit, and took advantage of the new freedom of expression found in the North. Prominent artists, writers, and musicians such as Aaron Douglas, Georgia O’Keeffe, Langston Hughes, Bessie Smith, Louis Armstrong, and Duke Ellington emerged from this time. They all used art to depict the realities of being black in America.
