Human Expansion to North America (1 янв 900 г. – 1 янв 1450 г.)
Описание:
The dawn of the human being existing in North America began over 12,000 years ago. This date is agreed upon by many scientists and archaeologists; as the discovery of bones, ancient tools, and other societal remnants have been carbon dated to this date range. The foremost evidence of this is found with the Clovis culture scattered around their ancient camps and settlements. (Belshaw, ch. 2.3) There are many theories as to how this ancient human culture came to North America, but it is certain that they ventured here and lived nearly untouched for many years. During this time, many different cultures, tribes, societies, and technological advances occurred; such as the domestication of the Mesoamerican triad, an agricultural revolution, and the rise and fall of many different North American Indigenous nations. (Belshaw, ch. 2.3) Many early societies of the Americas had their own beliefs, modes of production, and ways of living. One of the longest lasting of these was the Mississippian culture. (Belshaw, ch. 2.4) From the Mississippian culture, many other cultures would come to be that used very similar hierarchies and forms of organization as they crossed North America, settling the plains, and the Pacific Northwest. (Belshaw, ch. 2.4) This human venture into the Americas is very important to Indigenous history, and the history of Canada because it tells us where the Indigenous peoples of North America came from, and how the we know there was society and culture long before the Europeans began to settle in North America.
