Reformation was a period of time which would've began as a religious revolution but in a way would've ended in a political revolution. The printing press had already been created by now and the strong movement of the Renaissance helped in the encouragement and acceptance of new ideas. Martin Luther payed an important role in this period of time also known as the protestant revolution. He was a priest who saw indulgences (payments people made to the Catholic Church to forgive their sins) and several other things the church did as wrong and believed that the church had deviated from their original purpose because of the wrongful administration and practices of the church. The printing press allowed him to spread his ideas and the bible (he had translated into languages Europeans would understand) across Europe in a short period of time. Soon new religions were created and now that more people had access to the bible everyone interpreted the scripture in different ways. This caused outrage and opposition against the Catholic church. The outcome resulted in the church losing a great deal of power and authority and new religions being formed but most importantly that others had to accept this and religion now would become a more diverse subject than it had been before.
What had started of a discontent priest with the flaws of the catholic church ended in a dramatic change to the way religion was viewed and talked about and the introduction of a new freedom. The movement resulted in v variety of different religions and the Catholic Church had lost much of its power because even monarchies joined the opposition people would have to accept other religions; the freedom of religion was introduced. This promotion of rights and freedoms allowed the ideology of individualism to further influence societies.
