Was an Austrian architect and designer of consumer goods who co-established Wiener Werkstätte. As an outstanding exponent of the Viennese Jugendstil, his ideals played an important role in the development of all his works, aspiring to the rebirth of arts and crafts and contributing more abstract and purer forms to the designs of buildings and furniture, glass and metalwork, following the concept of "total work of art". Hoffman's works combined the functionality and simplicity of artisan production with refined and innovative ornamental details and geometric elements. It is an important precursor of the Modern and Art Deco Movement
