This was a massive strike demonstrated calling for the wealthy to pay their fair share of taxes, defense of labor rights, and an opposition to cuts on the public health service and the conversion of the existing thirteen percent sales tax to a fifteen percent value-added tax on a wider range of items. Over 40,000 people marched.
