The Antifa wars were a period in which radical leftist, far-right and youth-libertarian protesters protested each other, often engaging in direct combat. The 1st Antifa Wars began to fade after the 3rd Battle of Berkeley, when police began to more actively monitor political rallies. The 1st Antifa Wars could be said to have began on March 4th, the 2nd Battle of Berkeley (a colloquial name given to the violent protests at Berkeley following the first violent protests that got Milo to cancel a talk). This violence wasn't on a large enough or dire enough scale to gain too much national attention, but it still served as fodder for online organizers to cut into, essentially, "my guys beating up your guys" porn and this encouraged more people to become violent at protests. This culminated in, what I think, is the definitive end of the 1st Antifa Wars, the Unite the Right rally, aka the Charlottesville rally. The violence there was at a scale to shock the nation, with many more far-right and far-left protesters present than ever before. A right-wing protester drove his car into a group of counter protesters in a hit-and-run attack that killed 1 and injured 19. Although there was reckless violence on both sides, the right-wing incidents far outweighed the left-wing incidents. Though Antifa's intended objective of terrorizing far-right activists into remaining silent failed, they can be said to have won in that the nation condemned right-wing violence almost exclusively, and at the same time, changed the political atmosphere away from one that so readily tolerated political violence. The left and right both contributed in escalating the issue to the scale it reached. It just so happens that it turned out well for the left in this case.
