The Yuan Dynasty was actually ruled by the Mongols who invaded the song dynasty. Genghis Khan began his conquest of the song empire but his grandson was the one who finished the complete takeover of the Song. The Yuan dynasty brought rich cultural diversity that was overall beneficial to Chinese Society.
