Warring factions: Iraq and its allies (US and Iran) vs ISIS
Location: Iraq
Note: A conflict between Iraq and its ally, the Islamic State (ISIS). ISIS had been quickly encroaching on Iraqi territory, seizing 56,000 square KM of Iraqi territory, with 4.5 million citizens.
Support: Iraq received aid from the United States in the form of airstrike campaigns, help in ground combat operations, $3.5 billion to rearm Iraqi Security Forces, and training for 200,000 Iraqi troops. Iran provided troops, armoured and air elements, and logistical aid came from Russia.
The war ended by reclaiming the 56k km lost.
