Revelation 17 describes the apostate Roman Catholic Church which is led by the antichrist beast pope.
We see that in the purple and scarlet robes of the Catholic high priests and in the golden cup that's used in their blasphemous Eucharist ceremony which claims to sacrifice Messiah again for sin.
The RCC has been drunk with the blood of the saints during the Dark Ages and Inquisition.
The RCC commits fornication in revering the pagan Babylonian sun god with the many obelisks in Rome which represent Nimrod the sun god.
The 'mystery of iniquity' in 2 Thessalonians 2 seems to point to Simon Magus the sorceror who after being rebuked by Peter, went to Rome to feign to be an apostle of Christ, effectively playing the role of the first Roman pope, as it was not Simon Peter.
The 'ten horns' being referred to are the ten kingdoms of the fallen Western Roman Empire which formed after the 'restrainer' Emperor was removed from power in 476 AD during the fourth trumpet judgment.
The pope demanded that the ten horns bow to his authority. Three would not and they were 'plucked out' fulfilling the prophecy in Daniel 7:24 about the little horn popes of Rome.
In the future, the ten kingdoms in Western Europe will be used to carry out judgment of the RCC. They are currently being filled with Muslims who may be used to carry out that judgment when they gain a majority.
Revelation 17:10-12 points to five forms of government of the Roman kingdom which had passed when John wrote Revelation. The sixth was the emperors who were in power in the first century.
The seventh existed a 'short time' from 476 AD when the Western Roman Emperor was removed from power, until 538 when the eighth king, the popes were given civil and ecclesiastic authority over the Roman beast kingdom.
