The earliest fossils found of dinosaurs were found from the Triassic Period (approximately 250 - 200 mya.) Although there were many evolutions that dinosaurs evolved into, not all of the dinosaurs lived concurrently. Dinosaur species lived at various time periods and although fossils date back to the Triassic Period, they continued to evolve and change living in the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods as well. The various dinosaur species lived during the Mesozoic Era. Non-avian dinosaurs went extinct due to a natural disaster that occurred at the end of the Cretaceous Period 66 mya.
