The construction began in January 1887 and was finished on March 31st 1889. The construction involved 300 workers and 2.5 million rivets, the sturdy iron was assembled with expert precision, despite the build being very controversial and having a public petition against it. The tower was eventually completed and became the centrepiece of the 1889's world fair. It was designed by Maurice Koechlin and Émile Nouguier.(Ref. 6). The Eiffel Tower aimed to showcase modern engineering and celebrate the French Revolution's 100th anniversary. This was a huge milestone in the world as it was the tallest manmade structure built for the time. (Ref. 7)
