Novgorod won independence and deposed their appointed Prince. For the next 350yrs they would elect their own Prince, Mayors, Archbishops, and Military commanders.In 1471 Novgorod pledged allegiance to Moscow. In 1478 Ivan III invaded during his campaign to annex all Russian States.
