“It’s America’s game, but it’s going to Canada for a while.” That is what Dave Winfield said after winning his first world series in 1993 in a 4-3 win to the Atlanta Braves more than anything he was happy for the Toronto fans as they were welcoming and some of the most passionate fans he had seen which sums up Toronto sports in a whole. The Blue jays would be the first Canadian team to ever win a world series although they were still relatively new. With a dominant team in the 1992 season they would have 4 future hall of famers. “You have united a nation behind you,” said prime minister Brian Mulroney. To run this up in 1993 they would win the world series again in a dramatic fashion with a game winning home run, truly uniting the country together. There were Many reasons why this time was significant. One being that it was the first canadian team to win a world series nonetheless doing it twice in a row after still being a relatively new franchise because of this success it united the country together even when there were other matters going on and gave hope to Canadians. In 1992 when the Blue jays won the world series it would also mark the first time an african american manager had won the world series.
