Emperor after Tiberius.Hadrianus wanted to reduce the power of the Praetor and bring full judicial authority under the imperial office. He did this by commissioning the legal scholar Julianus in 135 BC to create a single praetorial edict that would last indefinitely. This was called the edict perpetuum.
This greatly diminished the importance of the Praetor.
