The Disaster of Esperia, also known as the Great Humiliation, was a war of conquest launched by a coalition of several Ecurmái tribes that decimated any Iorádhine armies sent to halt their advance into Esperia, and seized much of the region for themselves after having taken all the major cities of the northern region, killing Adourynn's only son, and forcing Adourynn to accept a humiliating peace treaty in their favour. He died later the same year, reportedly of a heart attack, though some suspect he was poisoned.

The complete failure of the already weakened 7th Iorináreth to repel the Ecurmái and protect is territories in Esperia, coupled with the death of Adourynn and the lack of an heir apparent, triggered the full collapse of the 7th Iorináreth.
