Where the muscle is built. The primary focus here is to build as much muscle as possible while maintaining or steadily losing body fat whatever the case may call for depending on the individual. Intensity should be high and volume will be steadily increased as we near the cutting phase. Drive the training, drive the calories. By the end of this phase clients will have raised their overall activity level, tightened up their diet, build metabolically active tissue, and build discipline. This sets them up with a higher caloric intake than they would have had without the mass phase to allow more food to be taken in during the cutting phase. This would probably be a good candidate for incorporating the portion control method using the hand as a guide. Also eating at regular times and intervals. We are trying to incorporate all the habits and tools that we need when it's time to really get down to business during the cutting phase. By the end of this phase the clients are eating two cheats per week, one clean, one dirty at the most.
