Anglo-Saxon Period (c. 410 - 1066) (1 янв 410 г. – 1 янв 1066 г.)

Описание:

Anglo-Saxon Migration (c. 410 - 600): Following the Roman withdrawal, Britain saw the arrival of the Anglo-Saxons, a group of Germanic tribes including the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes. They gradually settled in large parts of what is now England, displacing or assimilating the existing Celtic populations.
Formation of Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms: By the 7th century, several Anglo-Saxon kingdoms had been established, including Wessex, Mercia, Northumbria, and East Anglia. The Anglo-Saxons brought their own language (Old English), pagan religious practices (later converting to Christianity), and distinct cultural traditions.
Celtic Resistance and Survival: The Celtic Britons were pushed to the fringes of the island, particularly to Wales, Cornwall, and parts of Scotland. In these areas, Celtic languages and traditions continued to thrive.
