Weimar Republic is the name that was given to the democratic German government between November 1918 and March 1933, established at the end of the imperial period and the start of Nazi Germany. It was shaped this way after World War I, the world’s government began to become democratic, the idea that all countries with democratic governments during the war would win. This seemed to be the polar opposite of Nazi Germany, being a fascist government with racist tendencies like white privilege.

The Weimar Republic was deemed unpopular due to them signing the Treaty of Versailles and failing to handle the economic crisis in Germany at the time. The general distrust of the Weimar system destabilised the parliament. Ultimately the government became ineffective because of Germany’s war debt and political instability. After that, the Nazi Party gained total power over Germany and began the rise of Adolf Hitler during the economic crash and Great Depression.

