After the return of Wally West from the limbo in which he was trapped, as well as the revelation of Dr. Manhattan's manipulation of the timeline, the DC Universe entered a state of Rebirth, in which the state of the DC Multiverse and Timeline changed drastically. Various impactful events occurred across the Multiverse at this time, such as Metal, which saw the Multiverse collide with the Dark Multiverse in a battle for supremacy, resulting in the destruction of the Source Wall, which released Perpetua, one of The Hands who created the DC Multiverse; Heroes in Crisis, in which Wally West's trauma from being trapped in limbo for so long, coupled with having his children be erased from history and his wife forgetting him, as well as his powers cascading out of control, resulted in the deaths of various fellow heroes, leading to him eventually turning himself in and being incarcerated; Doomsday Clock, which ended in Dr. Manhattan attempting to undo his previous crimes against the timeline by restoring previously time-displaced heroes such as the Justice Society of America and the Legion of Superheroes to the timeline; Flash Forward, which saw an imprisoned and mentally damaged Wally West inherit the powers of Dr. Manhattan and the wisdom of the Mobius Chair in an attempt to both restore his erased family to reality and fix the tears in the timeline that Dr. Manhattan overlooked; Death Metal, which saw the culmination of Perpetua's plan to appease her fellow Hands by destroying and remaking the DC Multiverse in her image, which was ultimately foiled by a betrayal from the Darkest Night, who was in turn defeated by an Anti-Crisis-powered Wonder Woman. Diana's victory in Death Metal occurred right in time for the arrival of The Hands, who were impressed enough with Diana and her Multiverse that they agreed to restore the Infinite DC Multiverse, now referred to as the Omniverse, for the first time since before Crisis on Infinite Earths, thus ending The New 52 and Rebirth saga. This restoration of the Multiverse after years of damage by various Crises resulted in a brand new Infinite Frontier of opportunity.
