Angles and Jutes Stayed in England (1 янв 400 г. – 1 янв 1066 г.)

Описание:

Angles:
The Angles were a tribe of people who invaded England from Angeln, which is a small district in northern Germany.
They invaded around the 5th century CE after having a failed invasion in 350, being pushed back by the Romans.
Once they had successfully invaded they had established themselves in Eastern Europe, raiding coastal towns
During this time Saint Augustine introduced Christianity into Britain 597 AD in Kent.
Anglo-Saxons introduced many root words that remain commonplace in English today, these include ‘kno’ - meaning skill, in words such as know or knowledge, and ‘nama’ meaning reputation, in words such as name or nominate.

Jutes:
Along with the Angles and the Saxons, the Jutes invaded Britain in the 5th century AD.
The Jutes invaded England from Jutland, which is in modern day Northern Denmark
The Jutes merged with the Angles and the Saxons over time, so they left at a similar time to when the Anglo-Saxons were conquered.
The Jutes are known for taking over Kent, the Isle of Wight and some parts of Hampshire
St Bede is credited with a lot of information relating to the Jutes and who they were.
Many words were added from the language spoken by the Jutes
These include ‘always’, ‘child’ and ‘friend’
