Since the late 1990s, the Mission District has fallen victim of gentrification due to the dom-com bubble boom during the late 90s. However there has been multiples wave of gentrification throughout the years. The most recent being back in 2010s. Tech companies like Twitter started to move their headquarters to San Francisco. This caused an influx of rich white techies to move into areas like the Mission to stay close to their workplace causing rent prices to increase immensely and push long-time Latinx residents out.
