Hoshea reigned for 9 years, and did evil before the Lord. He started paying tribute to Shalmaneser king of Assyria when he came to attack Hoshea. Hoshea then stopped paying tribute and was murdered by Shalmaneser.2 kings 17: 2
He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, but not like the kings of Israel who preceded him.
