Following nationalization of the Suez Canal by Egypt, Anglo-French troops, with Israeli support, invade the Sinai region of Egypt. While there is a military victory for the imperialist forces, America's refusal to support the operation and its subsequent recognition of Egypt's right to the canal meant that the Anglo-French troops were forced to evacuate.
