During this era, a concept called societal marketing was constructed. The idea was that whatever they purchased favorably impacted customers lives and well-being as well as satisfying peoples short and long term needs. This boosted companies sales to which even they were satisfied. During the 60's and 70's, Companies realized that they are creating harmful waste for the environment when many companies were publicly exposed due to their unrighteous actions. This changed how companies brought products into the world as they were creating, while assuring that the earth was not being polluted.
