The american revolution was a combination of high taxation and little representation in the american colonies from the British crown witch inspired colonists to declare independence and form a new, republican government. In this new government, governing authority was invested in the hands of the citizens and not a ruling monarch. The american revolution promoted liberalism and individual thinking because of the nature of the revolution itself, a break from authority and a movement of power to the citizens of the new nation of America.
