The Conversion the Manikongo (1 янв 1491 г. – 1 янв 1526 г.)

Описание:

After European contact, Nzinga a Nkuwu, the manikongo, grew fond of the Portuguese way of life. In 1491, both him and his son were baptized. His son assumed the Christian name Afonso I, and became the manikongo in 1509. After forming strong ties with him, the Portuguese began capturing people of the Kongo Kingdom and forcing them into slavery. Afonso I responded to this by setting up a Portuguese-styled administration to protect his people from being illegally enslaved. Unfortunately, the Kingdom of Kongo had already become a part of the Atlantic Slave Trade, with Afonso's efforts only temporarily putting off what was to come.
